“...my daughter  came home glowing after every class this week. She’s just loving the chance to try new things...
the new opportunities you’ve added have just increased the studio’s depth in the area of dance education.
And doing that while keeping your focus on what’s best for the dancers is what makes North Andover School of Dance special.”

balletOur BALLET program is designed to take students from their very first step through classical ballet lessons. It encourages physical discipline and general body awareness and control. It helps understand the relationship between music, rhythm and controlled movement.

pointe 02POINTE is a form of ballet presented on the tips of the toes. We focus on grace and technique. Dancers must have sufficient strength and technique before beginning pointe work. The pointe dancer will warm up by doing exercises at the barre and in the center before performing routines or combinations.

tapperTAP is one of the most rhythmic dances and teaches students to really hear and "feel" the music.  Students work on musicality, as well as isolating the foot and ankle action. Dancers practice a series of basic steps, adding more difficult combinations as they become more proficient. Many students, as well as adults, tap dance for fun and exercise. It builds aerobic fitness as well as muscle control.

jazz picJAZZ classes give our students a chance to show off their jazzy attitudes! We follow the typical jazz class format of building strength, balance and extension through floor stretches, across the floor patterns, and dance routines. The movements continue to develop from year to year as the students progress and mature.

lyricalLYRICAL dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of music.

bang bangCONTEMPORARY is characterized by its versatility and can be danced to almost any style of music. The ease of movement promoted by contemporary dance technique allows experienced dancers to push new boundaries of body movement.

musical theaterAll forms of dance are incorporated in MUSICAL THEATER. Students portray characters from musicals and plays. This class is sure to develop a student’s personality and confidence as well as brighten their stage presence.

hip hopperHIP HOP is a very stylized form of street dance using isolations, popping, and free styled movement. These upbeat high tempo classes aim to develop not only technique, but self confidence and stage performance as well.
